SIIMA 2014 to be celebrated in Malaysia

Awards to honor cinematic talent and promote the South Indian Film industry

Hyderabad, July 17 2014 – Recognizing talent and excellence in the art of cinema, the South Indian International Movie Awards (SIIMA) today announced the 2014 edition at a press conference addressed by popular stars Shriya Saran and Rana Daggubati. After creating history in the previous two years, this year SIIMA travels to the enthralling city of Kuala Lumpur taking the South Indian Cinema a step ahead on the global platform by making a mark overseas.

Micromax was announced as the title sponsor for SIIMA at the event by Shubhodip Pal, Chief Marketing Officer, Micromax.“We are happy to partner with SIIMA it’s not a short term agreement and it’s not just about one logo being integrated with SIIMA but instead we are looking at a long term association so that we can connect with the end consumer” said Shubhodip.

The two day event will be held on September 12th and 13th and will create a platform for South Indian Films to go global and helps regional super stars to reach out to their fans.

Tony Nagamaiah, the General Manager, Malaysia Events announced Malaysia as the destination partner for SIIMA 2014. Tony Nagamaiah said “Malaysia has been associated with South Indian Film Industry since past few years and it’s only going to further grow with the association of SIIMA this year. As SIIMA is going global it is promoting the South India Films and the artists globally so as the Malaysia tourism”

Celebrating the grand success on a global platform, SIIMA connects the South Indian Film fraternity to the glittering world of showbiz and paparazzi. The awards demonstrate exceptional work of art, innovation, integrity and success.

Says, Chairperson of SIIMA, Brinda Prasad, “There are a large number of South Indians spread across the globe but the revenues that the South Indian film industry generates through the overseas market are far less. Through SIIMA we hope to promote South Indian cinema worldwideand bring South Indian stars closer to their global audience.”

Speaking at the launch of SIIMA in Hyderabad, actor Shriya Saran said, “I have been associated with SIIMA for two long years now and it is indeed a pleasure to be a part of the third edition as well. SIIMA 2014 will be an exciting experience as I will be performing in Malaysia. SIIMA gives the South Indian Film fraternity an avenue to meet globally and celebrate successes over two days; it truly makes for a wonderful experience.”

Actor Rana Daggubati added, “South Indian cinema is one of the biggest film industries in the world and SIIMA provides a platform for the stars to showcase their work to a global audience. SIIMA is way to celebrate with the film fraternity and connect with a global audience.”

Some of the leading nominations for 2014 include Attarintiki Daredi for 12 categories in Telugu;Drishyam& Amen for 8 categories in Malayalam; Googly for 11 categories in Kannada and Kadal
